The method

A roofing square is 100 sq ft. For each square, add materials (shingles with waste, underlayment, ice & water, drip edge, starter, ridge) and labor for tear-off and install, adjusted for pitch. Add dumpster and permit, then price to your margin.

Pitch is where profit hides

Steep roofs slow everything down and need roof jacks and harnesses. If your price per square doesn't change with pitch, steep jobs are eating your margin.
