The method

Measure the driveway (length × width). Divide by how many square feet your surface cleaner does in an hour, add time for pre-treating, post-treating, setup and rinse-down, and add a few minutes per stain. Multiply hours by what labor costs you, add chemicals, and divide by (1 − your margin).

Why not just use a price per square foot?

Per-square-foot prices you see online ignore your drive time, setup and minimum. Small driveways need a minimum charge; big ones get cheaper per square foot because setup is spread out. Build the number from time and it handles both.

FAQ

Should I charge a minimum for small driveways?

Yes. Setup, travel and cleanup take the same time on a small job, so most washers set a minimum.

Do I charge extra for oil stains?

Usually. Stain treatment needs extra chemical and dwell time, so price it per stain or as an add-on.
